2025 Etsy Fee Structure Explained
Etsy charges four types of fees that every seller needs to understand:
Listing Fee ($0.20): Charged each time you list or renew an item. If an item sells, the listing renews automatically and another $0.20 is charged.
Transaction Fee (6.5%): Applied to the total order amount including shipping and gift wrap charges. This is Etsy's primary revenue source.
Payment Processing Fee (3% + $0.25): Applies to all orders processed through Etsy Payments (required in most countries). The 3% applies to the full transaction amount.
Offsite Ads Fee (12–15%): If Etsy advertises your items off-platform and a sale results, they charge an additional 12–15% of the order total. Sellers under $10K/year can opt out; over $10K/year it is mandatory.

Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee and 3% payment processing fee both apply to the shipping amount you charge buyers — not just the item price. If you charge $8 shipping and only pay $5, Etsy collects fees on the full $8, reducing your effective shipping margin.
How do I avoid Etsy Offsite Ads fees?
Sellers who made less than $10,000 in the past 365 days can opt out of Offsite Ads in their Etsy Shop Manager under Settings → Offsite Ads. Once you cross $10,000 in annual sales, participation becomes mandatory for 12 months at a time. Many high-volume sellers find Offsite Ads profitable despite the fee, as it drives incremental sales they wouldn't otherwise get.
What is the total Etsy fee percentage on a typical sale?
Without Offsite Ads, total Etsy fees on a $35 item with $5 shipping: Listing ($0.20) + Transaction on $40 ($2.60) + Processing on $40 ($1.45) = $4.25 in fees on $40 revenue — about 10.6% effective rate. With Offsite Ads at 15%, total fees rise to $10.25 on $40 revenue — about 25.6%. Always calculate with Offsite Ads if you qualify.
